Black Light is a metalcore band from Badia Polesine, Italy.

Their music features sonic qualities from aggressive verses to catchy and memorable melodies, which gives them a fresh and modern sound typical of 2010’s metalcore. Besides that, their music also includes more old-school elements from genres like thrash metal, heavy metal, alternative metal and grunge.

The band was founded in 2012, when brothers Nicholas Casarin (guitar) and Mattia Casarin (drums) started playing music together and, one year later, added vocals and bass to build a fully-functional line-up. Originally, their music was influenced by bands like Nirvana and AC/DC, then quickly evolved into a more thrash metal sound. The turn to metalcore happened in 2015, with the addition of styles influenced by bands like Architects, Trivium and Killswitch Engage. The same year, after various line-up changes, French singer Lou Oddon joined the band.

Black Light’s first album was released in June 2016 under the label Epic&Fantasy Music. From the early 2000’s metalcore sound that formed the main core of the album, some alternative metal elements could be found in the vocals. When it came to creating their next batch of songs, the band wanted a newer sound and took inspiration from bands such as Asking Alexandria and Miss May I. This led them to add deeper and more powerful breakdowns to their music.

In March 2017, Matteo Perini became the new bassist in the line-up. Some months later, the band joined Sliptrick Records Bootcamp, and moved to the label’s headquarters in Liepāja, Latvia to further evolve the Black Light project . They’re currently working on new music which will be included on their next EP which is due to be released via Sliptrick Records later in the year.
